Four subject capsules
Physics
- Momentum p = mv is a vector quantity.
- For an isolated system, total momentum is conserved even when kinetic energy is not.
- Separate elastic, inelastic and perfectly inelastic descriptions; do not assume kinetic-energy conservation in every collision.
Chemistry
- Atomic number identifies the element; mass number counts protons plus neutrons.
- Isotopes have the same atomic number but different neutron numbers.
- Electron arrangement helps explain periodic behaviour, but a shell diagram must follow the stated model and its limits.
Higher Mathematics
- Differentiate before substituting a numerical point when finding a tangent slope.
- Use implicit differentiation when y is mixed with x.
- Check a derivative by dimensions, sign or a simple numerical estimate.
Biology
- Carbohydrates commonly serve as immediate energy sources or structural materials.
- Lipids are hydrophobic and include energy-storage and membrane components.
- Proteins are polymers of amino acids; their function depends on sequence and three-dimensional structure.
Recall without notes
- Why can momentum be conserved when kinetic energy is not?
- Define isotope without using the word mass alone.
- Find dy/dx for x² + y² = 25.
- Compare carbohydrate, lipid and protein by building block and one function.
Practice and application
- Solve one recoil or collision problem and label the system boundary.
- Write isotope notation for three atoms and count subatomic particles.
- Complete 10 differentiation problems, including one implicit relation.
- Make biomolecule flashcards with building block, bond and function.
Assessment / output
Written retrieval plus flashcards; 20 concise answers in the error log or notebook.
